Cornwall New Energy supports over 100 SME's in 2018 to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels

This year, Cornwall New Energy has continued providing free support to SMEs in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to develop, promote and install renewable energy solutions and services. The project is on track to exceed the target number of SMEs assisted by almost 12%, making 2018 a success for the project partners and Cornish SMEs alike!

Success stories of 2018

St Austell Printing Company, St Austell

CNE provided SAPC with a feasibility study for a solar photovoltaic (PV) system and a lighting assessment for the savings that could be achieved with an LED lighting replacement scheme. In August 2018 two PV systems (100kW and 50kW) were installed by a local supplier. These are expected to create annual electricity and CO2 savings of £15,000 and 58 tonnes respectively.

Chacewater Energy Group, Chacewater

CNE is supporting the local charity to develop renewable projects with businesses in Cornwall. This work includes a wind feasibility study for designated areas in the Neighbourhood Plan and the extension of a nursury's solar PV system.


GURBuild UK

GURBuild is a start-up based in Cornwall developing low cost/carbon housing solutions. CNE has assisted the organisation in reviewing and assessing the current system solutions, researching new products and technologies and making introductions to key local contacts.

Boswedden House, St Just

CNE worked with the B&B and retreat centre to assess their renewable energy options and improve the energy efficiency of the building fabric. There is potential to increase the existing PV array to 11kW and to install a Ground Source Heat Pump.

Cornwall New Energy Electric Vehicle Event - September 2018

CNE held an EV event at the Royal Cornwall Showground on 18 September 2018. This event gave local businesses the opportunity to discover more about CNE and emerging EV technology. Over 100 people attended with a good mix of small and medium sized businesses. 13 car manufacturers and charge point manufacturers also exhibited at the supplier fair giving attendees the chance to test-drive electric vehicles.
