Cornwall New Energy secures funding for local growing charity

Camel Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a pioneer of not-for-profit volunteer led veggie box schemes in Cornwall; it has been recognised as an exemplar of local food production with high sustainable, environmental and socially responsible principles and for creating a positive impact on their community.

As part of the ongoing business support to Camel CSA, Cornwall New Energy (CNE) assisted with the specification and application for funding of an off-grid solar water pumping system. Camel CSA are moving their growing activities to a new site in Wadebridge and are committed to minimising their environmental impact. Funding has been secured from the Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network’s Community Benefit Fund for the relocation and refurbishment of an off-grid PV system on to the new growers shed. In addition, the funding will cover the cost of a solar powered irrigation system for 4 polytunnels using harvested rain water.
